A Few of us were of opinion that Lebanon had more to see and to give than ordinary person imagines. We give you the result, in short, of our wanderings: We shall ever be ready to share the pleasures of others, if they wish to communicate them.
Aside from the enchantment linked with mountain and sea, the heritage of the Lebanon is religious, its pagan temples of old, its christian monasteries and its Moslem shrines of to-day. These mountain tops crowned with the glories of Lebanon, and these seaside cities and towns with their castles and towers are a perpetual attraction if not a challenge. To every Lebanese we say: Lebanon first: to every visitor: Here is the heritage of ages to enrich your knowledge.
When you have followed in our footsteps, this enchantment will take possession of your and linger on: the mysterious spell will draw you on. History, religious and profane, will intrigue you: glorious sights will enthrall you-- the gold and blues and purples of sea and mountain, the peaceful quietness of an unspoiled country-side.
We sat on the mountain side: the green valleys had their feet in the sea: the haunting avenues ran down to the plain: around us was the pink circle of the mountains with sun-soaked rocks: the monastery skyline stretched away beyond our ken: The chariots of the sun had gone over the horizon, the dust of the wheels had settled, the first stars were burning overhead: on such a still summer evening we desired to share our joy with you.
